AccountAbility Minnesota customers can open a savings account at one of our partner banks or credit unions, regardless of financial history.
Having a savings account will allow you to receive your state refund in as soon as 4-5 business days and federal refund in 9-15 business days by filing electronically and having the money directly deposited into your account.
Savings accounts are available to customers with proper
Minnesota state identification and a Social Security card or Individual
Tax Identification Number (ITIN) card.
To open a savings account you will need to bring the following documents:
Proof of Identification and Address (provide one of the following)
- Valid Minnesota driver’s license*
- Valid Minnesota state ID*
- Expired Minnesota driver’s license & valid renewal receipt (renewal receipt must have been issued in the past 30 days)
- Out-of-state
ID & valid Minnesota resident application receipt with current
address (receipt must have been issued in the past 30 days)
*If
your current address does not match the address on your Minnesota
driver’s license or state ID, you will need to go to the DMV for a
change of address form or you will need to provide proof of current
address by providing a utility bill or a paystub that has your name and
current address on it (cell phone bills will not be accepted).
Taxpayer Identification Number (provide one of the following)
• Social Security card
• Individual Tax Identification Number document (ITIN)
