AccountAbility Minnesota hires new volunteer resources director
ST. PAUL, MN (June 21, 2010) – AccountAbility Minnesota, a nonprofit organization that provides free tax preparation and related financial services to low-income taxpayers through enlisting the help of hundreds of volunteers, has hired Adam Faitek as its volunteer resources director. Faitek will oversee the volunteer program of nearly 400 volunteers, having direct responsibility for recruitment and retention, training, scheduling, planning, and relationship building with volunteers and corporate partners.
Faitek has an array of financial services, volunteer management and political campaign experience. He has worked for U.S. Bancorp in their credit administration division, and managed volunteers as a field director for citywide and congressional political campaigns and for the Red Cross in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina.
Faitek is a recent graduate of the Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota where he earned a master's degree in public policy. He also has a bachelor’s degree in math economics from the University of St. Thomas.
AccountAbility Minnesota assists Minnesotans to move out of poverty by providing pathways to increase income, build assets and become financially secure, and by advocating for change that breaks down barriers to financial success. They do so by providing free tax assistance to working taxpayers in the Twin Cities, and helping them to maximize the tax credit refunds they are due to significantly boost their incomes; providing technical assistance to other organizations throughout Minnesota; and partnering with financial institutions and community organizations to expand access to financial products and services that encourage low- and moderate-income taxpayers to use their cash credits to build assets and improve their long-term financial security. In 2010, AccountAbility Minnesota and its partners helped 19,147 taxpayers receive $34 million in tax refunds.
