2010 tax season totals for taxpayers served

During the 2010 tax season across Minnesota*, we:

• Operated 12 tax sites in the Twin Cities metro area and provided technical assistance to 22 tax sites in Greater Minnesota.

• Provided 17,434 taxpayers with free tax assistance, saving themselves hundreds of dollars otherwise spent on preparation.

• Filed for $29.7 million in refunds that went directly into the pockets of hardworking individuals and families in Minnesota, significantly boosting incomes.

• Enlisted the help of 389 volunteers who spent a collective 13,445 hours filing 20,927 state and federal returns for low- to moderate-income taxpayers in the Twin Cities.

• Connected 493 un- or under-banked customers to a new credit union and bank savings account and 158 customers, who needed their refund fast, to an Express Refund Loan.
